Bagpipers, drummers, musicians, singers, and dancers, all directly from Edinburgh, Scotland, take the audience on an exciting and diverse journey through Scotland for an evening.
And no, here the men are not wearing trousers, they wear kilts - tartan and in the colors of the respective clans: Kilts are as much a part of the Scots as bagpipes and drums. In front of a castle-like backdrop with towers and battlements - a mimicry of a Scottish castle - the artists always present new facets of Scottish culture. Just as the impressive sound of bagpipes and drums fills the hall and captivates the audience, heartfelt ballads full of longing and vastness create an intoxicating silence in the room. The participating artists are among the best Scotland has to offer. Most of the participants regularly perform at the world-famous Edinburgh Tattoo. Among the bagpipers and drummers are many winners of international competitions and world champions on their instruments. Even the combination of traditional bagpipe playing and modern rock music works when guitarists turn up their E-guitars and the entire ensemble, with its traditional instruments, gradually joins in, e.g., to Paul McCartney's anthem "Mull of Kintyre" and John Farnham's "You’re the voice" - then goosebumps are guaranteed. The lively and exuberant festival atmosphere is also conveyed by the joyful and spirited dances of Scotland. In ever-changing formations, magnificent costumes, and outfits, the artists enter the stage and inspire each other with their immense joy of music and dance. When, then, in a fog of mist, after an original cannon salvo, the Scottish anthem "Highland Cathedral" sounds, and the bagpipers and drummers in their uniforms pass close to the audience through the aisles, a breath of real Highland air blows through the hall!
