Description
GRAMMY-WINNING LEGENDS IN THE MAGICAL ST. WENCESLAS CHAPEL The Klezmatics were at the forefront of klezmer's popularity 40 years ago. The genre's name comes from the Hebrew "klej zemer," which simply means "musical instruments." They enriched this secular Jewish music with elements of jazz, Latin and Balkan music, and punk energy. They emerged from tradition but enhance it with additional elements including gospel and Americana, which appeared on their Grammy-winning album Wonder Wheel. On this album, they drew from the legacy of American folk singer Woody Guthrie. This year, they plan to release the album The New York Sessions.
