The Atavists are a Czech rock band influenced by surf and stoner styles. They formed at the end of 2014 and quickly found their place in the Czech music scene, especially due to their energetic live performances. The centerpiece of The Atavists' unmistakable sound is frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter Adam Krofian with his baritone voice and devastating guitar lines. Supporting him are the screaming sound of electric organs and synthesizers, along with a hard-hitting rhythm section. The Atavists secured a spot in the finals of the international battle of bands GBOB in Berlin. This was followed by a series of performances at significant Czech music festivals and opening for the famous Norwegian rockers Kvelertak. At the beginning of 2016, their debut album titled 'Bad Times' was released to warm critical reception. Later that year, they opened for Scottish band Biffy Clyro at the large Lucerna in Prague. The band's second album 'Lo-Fi Life' was released in March 2018 and a year later won two Anděl Awards – Discovery of the Year and Best Rock Album. After a hectic 2019 spent intensively touring, including opening for Muse and Skunk Anansie, the band underwent lineup changes in the bass and keyboard positions. In the new formation, they recorded and released the album 'Prettier Than You' in 2022, accompanied by three music videos and one live concert. The album was warmly received by critics and was nominated for an Anděl Award in the Rock category. In addition to performing both domestically and abroad, The Atavists are currently focusing on the creation of their fourth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2026. Miagra is an alternative rock vessel, drifting in the murky waters of stoner, metal, and pop.
