'That's twisted' by Baptiste Cazaux breaks conventional perception by treating listening as a malleable, evolving material, creating a space of transformation where time, emotions, and intensities fluctuate. Driven by nostalgia for 2010s pop anthems infused with nihilism and a joyful fatalism about an uncertain future, the piece roots itself in contemporary melancholy that Cazaux seeks to transcend. Through a collage of dances and sounds from different eras, he constructs an in-between space where gestures, music, and noises distort, overlap, and clash like a DJ scratching a track. This psychedelic and sensual drift merges memory and confusion, revealing a liminal landscape of echoes, fragments, and flowing presences.
