Description

In order to prevent a terrorist from crashing a passenger plane hijacked by him into the fully occupied Allianz Arena, the Bundeswehr pilot Lars Koch decides to shoot down the passenger aircraft against orders – 164 lives are lost to save 70,000. The grand criminal chamber of the Berlin District Court deliberates whether Lars Koch can be convicted of murder. The defense relies on a balancing decision, after all, the pilot saved many thousands of lives with his action. The prosecution accuses the pilot of disobedience, but above all, he violated human dignity by instrumentalizing the passengers through his counter-calculation of human lives, who nonetheless have the same right to life as everyone else. The verdict is decided by the audience through a vote on the guilt or innocence of the defendant, and thus on the judge's ruling.
