The textile history of Schaffhausen is closely linked to natural fibers. In pre-industrial times, flax, hemp, and sheep wool were mainly processed at home. In the first worsted spinning mill in Switzerland, sheep wool was spun into high-quality yarns – then there was an increasing focus on functional and technical fabrics. What is the relationship today between natural and artificial materials in art, design, architecture, and the environment?
