Description
Four works, four sound worlds, and a common pulse: The Symphonic Wind Orchestra aulos presents the entire tonal and rhythmic spectrum of symphonic wind music. Corigliano's colorful Gazebo Dances meet the impressionistic richness of Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé and the archaic power of Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps. At the center is the world premiere of Stephan Hodel's Philomena invites to dance, a commissioned composition by aulos, where personal musical memories converge: Swiss folk music, jazz rock, big band sound, and symphonic soundscapes combine to create music that is both physical and captivating.
