This shared exchange drives mutual learning. Innovative solutions are discussed, and best practices are shared. The symposium inspires its participants—decision-makers, implementers, and innovators—to take concrete action. The Significance of the Symposium Since 2013, it has been Switzerland’s most comprehensive event on business and sustainability, attracting around 2,000 participants: inspiration, challenges, expertise, and business opportunities, along with 15 integrated innovation forums (in-depth specialized conferences), an innovation exhibition, and the SDG Award. The Core Values of the Swiss Green Economy Symposium “Green economy” means more than just “green business practices.” According to the UN, the green economy encompasses all three dimensions of sustainable development: economy, society, and the environment. Specifically: economic growth, social inclusion, and prosperity, as well as environmental protection. According to the UN, the economy plays a central role in achieving these goals. Small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as innovative partnerships, are particularly important in this regard. On September 25, 2015, the UN unanimously adopted the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” It serves as the global framework for sustainable development through 2030. The Agenda’s 17 main goals and 169 targets encompass economic, social, and environmental objectives. With this Agenda, the UN brings together sustainable development and the global fight against poverty for the first time. This agenda involves both all nations and businesses. The symposium views sustainable development as a shared learning process aimed at improving quality of life in line with the UN 2030 Agenda. Progress is achieved most effectively when the expertise of all stakeholders is mobilized and the private sector is able to unleash its innovative potential. The symposium is a neutral platform for sustainable business practices. The SGES is committed to inclusive sustainability that benefits the economy, society, and the environment alike. The SGES encourages dialogue and the transcending of boundaries. This is fully in line with Goal 17 of the UN 2030 Agenda—“Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.” What are the goals of the Swiss Green Economy Symposium?
