The "Swiss-German Dixie-Corporation" is a company or a family that has been active with consistent success over the years, so there are good reasons to be happy because everyone knows: something has proven itself here. We are proud that we have been jazzing for several decades now without ever losing the carefree vitality of the early years. In 1978, the name "Swiss-German Dixie-Corporation" appeared for the first time. The "maker" and clarinetist Kurt Lauer wanted to form a new band back then and could rely on a list of over 80 musicians who were known to him from performances in previous years. All had gained considerable experience in other bands, and it was not difficult to assemble the originally session-oriented group into a core that quickly earned a national and international reputation in the following years. And this still applies today.
At the core of everything is Kurt Lauer, an active organizer who, with his good contacts to musicians, institutions, and private individuals, and not least through his cheerful personality, has been successfully fulfilling the role of "manager" for many years. Live music is a must for him, and with his witty announcements and comments on stage, he always manages to get the audience in the mood within minutes, making each performance an experience. "You can tell that you really enjoy the music" is a compliment that the musicians hear again and again. Living out the solo freedom without losing the sense of togetherness - that is the secret of jazz. With Kurt (clarinet and saxophone) in the frontline, Roland Wohlhüter aka "Don Rolando" (trumpet, valve trombone, harmonica, and various other instruments), who also impresses as a singer and arranger, and Daniel Kobler (trombone) play. Albert "Don Alberto" Gabriel provides a solid bass foundation with the sousaphone, Walter Vocke brings the chord background with the banjo and occasionally sings, and last but not least, "the fastest drummer in Switzerland" Flavio Ferrari regularly excites the audience with his solos and skillful singing. What would a band be without fans? This problem was solved in 1986 with the founding of the "Swiss-German Dixie-Corporation-Fanclub," which has grown to nearly 1,000 members to this day. Members are informed several times a year through fan mail about where and when the band performs.
