A music theater about freedom, body, and resistance – between sound, movement, and political reality. Stiletto – Opera Nova focuses on the human body as a place of freedom, control, and self-determination. Based on the experiences of the Iranian-German composer Fojan Gharibnejad, the work combines music, performance, and space into a new form of music theater. The ambiguous term "Stiletto" – as an elegant high heel and a historical stabbing weapon – serves as the starting point for a multifaceted exploration of power, gender roles, and societal attributions. Stiletto – Opera Nova understands freedom not as a given state but as a fragile, ongoing process – and develops from this an intense, highly topical artistic perspective on our present. After the world premiere on November 27, 2026, at the Labortheater Dresden, Stiletto – Opera Nova will have its Berlin premiere at the Theater im Delphi. ---
El Perro Andaluz founded in 2007 through a collaboration with Brian Ferneyhough, has quickly developed into one of the most versatile ensembles for contemporary music and performance in Germany. Their work spans various musical fields – music theater, installation, concerts, and music educational projects – and, in reference to the eponymous short film Un chien andalou, emphasizes artistic-friendship, playful provocation, and the pursuit of new expressive forms.
