UKRAINE TRADITIONAL SINGING WORKSHOP WITH Antonina Mitrakhova

Description

During two mornings, embark on a journey to discover a richly textured vocal tradition. Through practical exercises, listening sessions, and exchanges, you will explore the characteristics of Ukrainian traditional singing while learning about the cultural, historical, and social context in which it developed. Throughout the workshop, you will experience the fundamentals of vocal technique specific to these repertoires and learn several songs from different traditions. You will discover both ancient ritual songs, characterized by an open, powerful voice firmly rooted in popular practices, and more recent lyrical songs with more delicate expressive nuances. This approach will allow you to observe how a musical culture is transmitted through voice and collective singing. You will be invited to develop your listening skills, explore the natural resonances of your voice, and experiment with different vocal colors in a friendly and supportive environment.
