Spoken Word Festival woerdz 2026: The Spoken Word Showcase

Description

After the multifaceted Thursday, the unstoppable Jessica Jurassica opens Friday evening with a previously unseen performative 'Poetics Professorship'. Author and poet Simone Lappert presents her delicate poems to the sounds of bassist and composer Martina Berther. For the commissioned work, the Lucerne duo OHNE ROLF has teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Gregor Schwellenbach. Together, they seek connections between printed words on paper and music in all its facets in the space. A musical text experiment. Jamila Woods is an internationally touring, award-winning poet, musician, soul singer, and performer. Her works are physical spaces where word and sound become one. She is an active part of the Black feminist movement and the art bubble of Chicago. The lyrical sensitivity of Woods' voice, her gifted remixing, and her hypnotic play with language create unique interdisciplinary live performance experiences.
