Spoken Word Festival woerdz 2026: Literary International Match

Description

An Austrian philosopher once diagnosed "the literary incapacity of the round leather." Since 2006, both Austria and Switzerland have had a national team of football-playing authors. In the anniversary year, the Swiss Literature National Team and the Austrian Authors' Football Team will meet for the seventh time on the FC Littau pitch.
The game will be played at the Ruopigenmoos sports facility of FC Littau with 11 against 11 players over approximately 2 x 45 minutes, refereed by an experienced trio of referees.
In the evening, short readings by the athletic authors will take place on the South Pole stage.
Confirmed players of the Swiss Literature National Team so far include: Jeremy Chavez, Demian Cornu, Manuel Diener, Pino Dietiker, Oliver Diggelmann, Tim Felchlin, Bänz Friedli, Kaspar Hohler, Lorenz Langenegger, Patric Marino, Jovana Nikic, Andri Perl, Stefan Strässle, Günter Struchen, and Marco Todisco.
Confirmed players of the Austrian Authors' Football Team so far include: Martin Amanshauser, Clemens Berger, Wolfgang Fläclel, Florian Horwath, Alex Hübl, Christian Kössler, Andreas Pavlic, Paul Pechmann, Thomas Pöltl, Reinhard Prenn, Thomas Schafferer, Mario Schlembach, Stefan Soder, Maximilian Sztatecsny, Nick Wenninger, Oliver Wenninger, Kilian Wittmann, and Stefan Zwickl.

General Information

The Spoken Word Festival woerdz 2026 takes place in Luzern Littau and brings authors from Austria and Switzerland onto the football field. After the game, there will be short readings by the participating writers on the South Pole stage.
