Courtship between risk and finesse. Insights into the astonishing strategies of native spiders in autumn. Autumn is mating season – at least for certain spider species. Reproduction in spiders is fascinating and complex. Male spiders must signal to females that they are willing to mate – otherwise, they risk being mistaken for prey and eaten by the female.
