Vanishing lines, of life, rails to oneself. Valérian Guillaume crossed paths with the story of Lausanne native Martial Richoz, known as the man-bus, who roamed the city with vehicles of his own invention, according to specific schedules and plans. After several years of playing in the city, he was eventually hospitalized in psychiatry at Cery. This sparked a public debate on welcoming and supporting difference in the city that hosts a pioneering collection of outsider art. Valérian Guillaume does not write the biography of Martial Richoz. He incorporates his own experience into the dream, violence, and inventiveness of the man-bus to draw his own paths of desire from a bus stop transformed into a theater, through the nets of normative normality. The project is designed for actor Simon Jacquard — who carries a rare disease and has a vibrant, musical presence — and is presented at Vidy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Collection of Outsider Art.
