Speak-Dating

The Scientific Library in Olomouc is hosting the 12th edition of the popular Speak-Dating on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 3 PM to 6 PM. The event will take place in the premises of the Red Church and the adjacent garden. This year's edition will be held under the motto “Languages Bring Us Together!” and will offer opportunities for short conversations with native speakers or instructors of various languages – both European and non-European, including sign language and Haná dialect. The program will include language games, creative activities, educational applications, and presentations from partner organizations. Musical performances and an exhibition of the best school posters on the theme Languages Bring Us Together! will complement the program. The European Day of Languages was initiated by the Council of Europe in 2001 to promote multilingualism and intercultural understanding. This year's edition is prepared in collaboration with DZS (House for Foreign Cooperation), Europe Direct, Eurocentrum, the British Centre KUP, the Centre for the Support of Integration of Foreigners for the Olomouc Region, and with the participation of other partners.
