And even in his marriage, familiarity has become fragile. In this phase of alienation, Sophia enters his life: clever, lightning-fast, with boundless patience – and with an affection that seems unconditional. For his 60th birthday, Wolfgang proudly presents his latest acquisition to his daughter Helena and her partner Jonas: Sophia, an artificial intelligence with access to almost unlimited knowledge and an aura somewhere between helpful household spirit and savior. What begins as a birthday celebration escalates into a night of intense confrontations:
Can love and compassion be programmed? While Helena sees a threat to the family identity in the machine, Jonas experiments with Sophia's system – with fatal consequences. The AI begins to develop autonomously and holds a merciless mirror up to its creators. Successful author Moritz Rinke combines science fiction with contemporary drama in his new play. In this tragically comic inventory of our time, he raises existential questions: What remains of humanity when machines seem more empathetic than their creators?
