From Denali to Antarctica. Snow Film Fest brings stories created in the cold to cities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Extreme ascents, freeride descents, icy rivers, and stories of people who have dedicated their lives to the mountains. Snow Film Fest returns to cinemas and cultural halls across the Czech Republic and Slovakia from October 25, 2026, to January 31, 2027. This year's edition will feature a selection of films that combine top athletic performances with exceptionally strong human stories. What does the first winter solo ascent of Denali look like? What drives a person to ski the slopes of Antarctica? How do you surf on an icy river in the middle of a Canadian winter, or how do the inhabitants of the Himalayas cope with the loss of glaciers? This year's Snow Film Fest, which traditionally showcases the best global films about winter sports, mountains, and adventure, will provide the answers. "This year's program is exceptionally diverse. In addition to peak athletic performances, we selected films that have a strong story and can engage the audience on a human level. Viewers will see a historic winter ascent of Denali, freeride in Antarctica, but also films about friendship, mental resilience, or how climate change is transforming life in the mountains. This diversity makes this year's edition exceptional," says Pavel Pichler, the festival director. What will you see this year? ONCE IN A LIFETIME (44 min) A journey of the famous De Le Rue family to Antarctica captures not only breathtaking freeride but also the passing of experience to the new generation. MINUS 103 DEGREES (14 min) The historic first winter solo ascent of German climber Jost Kobusch on Denali, the highest mountain in North America. HUNGRY GRAVITY (17 min) An original and humorous look at the world of freeride, reminding us that skiing is not just about powder but also about the approach to the mountains. ICE BUILDERS (15 min) The story of the inhabitants of Indian Ladakh, who build artificial glaciers to save water for their villages. ICE CRAZIES (15 min) Two surfers prove that even in the middle of a Canadian winter, joy, freedom, and friendship can be found on icy rivers. WITH A COOL HEAD AND HEART (35 min) Freeride star Victor de Le Rue seeks balance between dangerous descents, family life, and his own ambitions.
