SH’VIRAH – A Sarah Nemtsov portrait

Description

The Ensemble Nikel combines a long-standing artistic collaboration with composer Sarah Nemtsov. A highlight was the tetralogy "TZIMTZUM" created between 2020 and 2023 for Nikel and orchestra. The 80-minute cycle includes three works for the ensemble with different orchestral arrangements as well as a fourth piece for the quartet alone titled "SH’VIRAH". The entire cycle can also be heard on the eponymous album released by Bastille Musique.
This portrait concert is entirely dedicated to the music of Sarah Nemtsov. With solo and duo works, the Ensemble Nikel sketches an imaginary prehistory to "TZIMTZUM". Gradually, the ensemble expands until in "SH’VIRAH" all four members stand together on stage. The evening is complemented by a new documentary film by Paul Moon about Nikel's USA tour in 2025, as well as the presentation of "DECADE II" and the album "Nemtsov Tzimtzum". General Information

The concert takes place at Gare du Nord in Basel and is dedicated to the music of Sarah Nemtsov. Ensemble Nikel presents a selection of solo and duo works as well as the new documentary film by Paul Moon.
