Description

Sheer Mag make rock music as if rock music has not been invented a thousand times before. The quartet from Philadelphia combines punk, power pop, and classic rock'n'roll into a sound that is both familiar and independent: dirty guitars, great choruses, and lots of energy. For over ten years, the band around Tina Halladay has been moving between small, sweaty punk clubs and the big stages of rock. The band cares little about genre boundaries, as also shown on their third album Playing Favorites. The record is direct, melodic, and with a strong sense for good songs. While much of contemporary rock sounds conceptual, Sheer Mag rely on something quite uncomplicated: rock songs that want to say something – and should be listened to loudly.
