Description

Sergio Sayeg (alias Sessa) is fascinated by "the chaos" of music, "the distorted translations that music experiences on its journey." As a cultural cannibal in the style of the legendary Brazilian Tropicalistas of the late sixties, Sessa uncompromisingly and seamlessly mixes musical references – from rock to jazz to samba and soul. As a Paulista (native of São Paulo) with a detour to New York City, Sessa expands the sound universe he has built since his debut in 2019 with his new album "Pequena Vertigem de Amor" (Lil’ Vertigo of Love). "A bit more nocturnal, open, and quirky-funky" – "Pequena Vertigem de Amor" channels the smooth sophistication of the Brazilian MPB scene of the late 70s, mixed with the psychedelic soul of Sly Stone and Shuggie Otis, without deviating from his sonic signature of acoustic guitar, Afro-Brazilian percussion, and the dialogue between Sessa’s unmistakable vocals and the background choir.
