Description

Yes, yes, yes! On this early autumn Thursday, a combination takes the stage that seems as obvious as it is diverse, referencing the trendiest corners of last year's leftfield pop stars. Sergeant is a trio from Brussels, whose activities are primarily sought after in filmmaking. Benjamin Cools is a filmmaker and composer, Ferre Marnef acts and sings in the trio alongside Geraldine Vanspauwen. Their music has a cinematic quality. Collaged, pieced together, and narrative, their album "Symbols," released in May, still retains familiar tones and rhythms. There are dubby basslines, stacked guitars, and kitschy flutes – how could it be otherwise? – driving the sound forward and making it incredibly interesting. The whole thing was mixed by Milan W., whose concert in March 2025 is likely to be well remembered by some.
And speaking of the promised references: The second band of this double evening is Curbside Lambsear, a new formation consisting of Magdalena McLean, who has not only shared the semi-circular stage with the wonderful Astrid Sonne but also plays in the superband caroline. Together with Annabelle Mödlinger (The Umlauts) and their EP set to be released in the autumn, they enrich this great folk-alternative-pop-post-rock cosmos with another gem born from playful experiments and the pure joy of making music together.
