Description
A collection of wonderful love songs from the 19th century was discovered in the archives of the Stoffelhaus in Fürstenau. Such serenades were used to entertain the aristocratic audience of the time on festive evenings in both Fürstenau and Grüsch. The Stoffelhaus Valley Museum Foundation, in collaboration with the Rosengarten Cultural Center, is presenting a revival of such a song recital. The program features romantic themes: chaste melancholy, tender kisses, and broken roses. Modern themes include flirting, dating, and more. The music is by Luise Bär, Wilhelm Baumgartner, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms. Alma Ganz, piano, and Pascal Ganz, bass-baritone, play and sing song cycles from this genre with heart and soul. The highlight this time: Beethoven’s “An die ferne Geliebte.” The Ganzes—artists and husband and wife—offer entertainment of the highest caliber. Heini Hagmann has written a program note for this recital, in which he has compiled a wealth of interesting facts about the period in which the songs were composed. Until shortly before his unexpected death on June 30, Heini was still refining the text, which has now, sadly, become his legacy. Hansueli Christener, his longtime friend and colleague, will read aloud that evening what Heini Hagmann had written.
