Description
Do all living organisms emit light, even if we can't see it with the naked eye? Join us for the next Science Café and discover the world of ultra-weak photon emission. Have you ever wondered why living organisms glow? Do only some glow, or do all glow and we just can't see their light? In the next Science Café, we will delve into the world of light that is so weak that the human eye cannot detect it. You will learn what ultra-weak photon emission is, how it occurs in living organisms, what it can reveal about processes happening in cells, and what methods scientists use to measure it. The speaker will be Mgr. Marek Rác, Ph.D., a researcher at the Department of Biophysics at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc. His research focuses on the formation of reactive oxygen species and ultra-weak photon emission. Using sensitive detection methods, he studies light that the human eye typically cannot capture. After the lecture, there will be time for questions and discussion. Registration is required to participate.
