Schooling – Education in the Age of AI

With Pestalozzi, Zurich has long made educational history. But this is never complete. Social upheavals and especially technological turning points constantly redefine what is taught in schools and what skills people will need in the future. We therefore ask: How have social change and the school system influenced each other again and again? And are we once again at a turning point today? What should schools still teach in the age of always available knowledge on the World Wide Web, calculators, automatic spell checkers, and AI? What do we really need – as individuals, but also as a society? This is discussed by education historian Michael Geiss, head of the Research Center for Education and Digital Change at the Zurich University of Teacher Education, and Marina Weisband, psychologist with a focus on pedagogy in the digital society.
