Description

Only every 50 years is the open-air play "The Blood Beech" performed in Grosshöchstetten, and only on a single evening, because at the end of the play the tree is cut down. Now the time has come again, the theater fever grips the whole village. But director Mrs. Gut soon reaches her limits, because the mayor Kellenberger – in the role of the freedom hero Wüthrich – won't listen, the extras Hans and Heiri say a lot, but always the wrong thing, and Mr. Schön – as bailiff Hünigwald – doesn't care about clinging to old traditions anyway. In other words: everyone rides and talks past each other. When Schön resorts to a radical means in a wild dispute about interpretive power, freedom, and democracy, suddenly much more than a play is at stake. Can the Latvian Agneta save the performance? Will the village come together? And what does the tree actually say about the whole story? Not to mention Mr. and Mrs. Tit on its branches. The seventh stroke of schön&gut once again brings witty satire, boundless imagination, wordplay, singing, and lots of flying role changes. And maybe a whole new story at the end. schön&gut are Anna-Katharina Rickert and Ralf Schlatter. Since 2003, they have been performing their poetic and political cabaret on the small stages of German-speaking Switzerland. In 2004, they received the Salzburg Stier for their work, in 2014 the Swiss cabaret prize Cornichon, and in 2017 the Swiss small arts prize.

General Information
