Description

Shaped by mobility, prosperity, and individualized lifestyles, our built environment has increasingly developed into an accumulation of monofunctional and often only partially used spaces. At the same time, a change is emerging: multiple uses, shared infrastructures, and flexible spatial concepts are gaining importance in the sense of the sharing economy. They open up new possibilities for resource-efficient management of existing buildings and challenge established notions of use and ownership. How this change can succeed, what challenges are associated with it, and which approaches are already being discussed and implemented today in architecture, urban planning, and design are illuminated by Schauraum B as part of a series of events with lectures and discussions. The lecture by Dipl.-Ing. Ulf Meyer, journalist, architecture and text, Berlin, is dedicated to the topic "Small in Japan."
