Jean Sibelius: Suite caractéristique op. 100
Conductor: David Hubov
Soloist: Vladimir Kharatyan, Viola The audience experiences compositions that are contemporary in their sound language but timeless in their emotional depth. The arc stretches from late romantic introspection in Suk and Sibelius through Larsson's neoclassical clarity to the contemporary sound language of Vasks. With his viola concerto from 2015, the orchestra consciously ventures into a contemporary repertoire that is still rarely heard on Swiss stages. The work makes the emotional journey of the evening from darkness to light immediately tangible. Under the direction of David Hubov, our young conductor specializing in historical performance practice (HSLU/ZHdK), the orchestra develops nuanced interpretations that do justice to the character of each work.
