Description

Scéalta /ʃcialˠta/ A Gaelic word with a great origin. Thousands of years ago, Irish legends and stories were presented to the audience by the scéalaithe – the storytellers. They traveled across Ireland, documenting experiences, interesting facts, and knowledge to present to the common people. Even centuries later, storytelling remains a significant part of Irish culture and is still practiced today. Four artists from different parts of Europe – from the Carpathians to Donegal Bay – have told stories through Irish music and dance throughout their lives. By chance, Berlin became the place of their creative work. Here, they wove together their diverse experiences into a tapestry of stories about home, travel, friendship, and love. Thus, Scéalta was born – a quartet concert with modern scéalaithe (storytellers): Patrizia Sieweck (Fiddle & Vocals), Daniel O'Connor (Guitar & Vocals), Nicole Ohnesorge (Dance), Gyula Glaser (Dance). Scéalta brings stories to life with the help of captivating Irish folk songs and melodies in a modern interpretation and staging, paired with mesmerizing Irish step dance.
