Description
Martin Fröst's free artistic spirit springs from his highly musical family, where parents and siblings would spend hours playing chamber music or listening to classical music – a proven way to catch a breather with three children. The experimental zeal and adventurousness of the charismatic Swede fit perfectly with the musical curiosity of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. Mysterious and vibrant at the same time, the program that the clarinetist has assembled with pieces from his Scandinavian homeland features Grieg's Holberg Suite, which showcases the rich tonal colors of Nordic symphonics. Violinist Göran Fröst frequently composes for his brother Martin, often Klezmer music, such as the powerful "Nomadia." In contrast, "Helix" is a recent commissioned work by Jacob Mühlrad for the BBC Proms, which travels along a time spiral through Klezmer, Raga, and ritual dances back to the origins of music. The Swedish-Jewish rising star Jacob Mühlrad is, according to Radio France, "the synthesis of his era." His sound language is always in flux and hypnotizes with the finest harmonic shades.
