Dreams tickle our senses. They amuse and inspire us. And they make the impossible suddenly seem easy. On the occasion of their 20th stage anniversary, Salut Salon takes us on a furious and enchanting journey through musical dream worlds between illusion and reality. With their spectacular opening, the "Tango del Diablo!" by Astor Piazzolla, Angelika Bachmann (violin), Meta Hüper (violin), Heike Schuch (cello), and Olga Shkrygunova (piano) hint at the diverse sounds of dreams: turbulent and disturbing, delicate and yearning. The quartet wanders through emotions with absolutely captivating dynamism, using the instruments not only in classical perfection but also boldly and creatively as sound tools and artistic accomplices. Violins, cello, and piano are tapped, worked on, and danced upon. The instruments resonate so impulsively and sensitively, as if they were independent characters with their own stories to tell: of exuberance and love, of the fleetingness of time, and the utopias we urgently need right now. In "Träume!" Salut Salon brings various magical beings and fairy-tale figures to life. They play their tricks, provoke thought, and fuel the imagination. Casually grooving, the witches are conjured in Donovan's "Season of the Witch!" They fly wildly in Bartholdy's "Walpurgisnacht!" And with enchanting finesse, they calculate through Goethe's "Hexeneinmaleins!" Meanwhile, the devil wreaks havoc in Prokofiev's "Diabolische Einflüsterung!" And with the film music to "Harry Potter!" we dive into the secrets of Hogwarts. Salut Salon knows no bounds when dreaming: a Yiddish number bursts with dance joy, zest for life, and a desire for freedom. And the lullaby "Nana!" by Georgian composer Sulchan Zinzadze gently tugs at the soul as a mother and her child dream of returning to their homeland. Whether Vivaldi, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, or Dukas: Salut Salon interprets the works delightfully idiosyncratically and with intoxicating joy of playing. The quartet astonishes its audience with verbal acrobatics and slapstick, with tap dancing and a singing saw. And with all sorts of astonishing effects: a glowing spark jumps from one musician to the next, it snows on stage like in a fairy-tale forest. And when it gets particularly fast and passionate, even the cello bow catches fire. Not to forget the puppet Oskar, who drives pianist Olga crazy with his hilarious magic tricks. Time and again, the musicians join in multi-part singing, as touching as it is euphoric. "Träume!" is a show full of poetry that they have wonderfully eavesdropped on from the world. Entertainment with ambition and a wink that enlivens and uplifts the audience. And beautifully encourages them to follow their own dreams.
