Description
In 1815, the jurist, composer, and writer (as well as Beethoven reviewer) E. T. A. Hoffmann characterized the key of E-flat major as follows: "Follow him! – follow him! – Green is his dress like the dark forest – sweet horn sound his longing word! – Do you hear it rustling behind the bushes? Do you hear it sounding? Horn tone, full of desire and melancholy – It is he – up! Towards him!"
Our Salon 2026 is dedicated to two E-flat major centaurs of music history: Mendelssohn's Octet and Beethoven's 3rd Symphony. The summit meeting travels through 3 cantons – like Mendelssohn through Switzerland. FELIX MENDELSSOHN BARTHOLDY (1809 – 1847)
