Description

For a long time, the cello was limited to a supporting role. Only with the suites of Johann Sebastian Bach did it gain its firm place as a solo instrument. The 11 Caprices by Joseph-Marie-Clément Ferdinand Dall’Abaco testify to that era when the cello became a field of virtuosic discoveries. Created at the major European courts, these works reveal the full technical and expressive richness of the instrument. Playing them today on a G. Grancino from 1679 with modern strings shows how lively this search for sound has remained. Combined with contemporary dance, it becomes an immersive artistic experience. PARTICIPANTS:
