“This summer I will carry it with me forever, I know.” On a thunderous night, Lovis and the robber chief Mattis have a child – a girl named Ronja. While the robber gang admires the newborn, a lightning strikes the Mattisburg, splitting the castle in two. Between them lies a hellish chasm. And right in this chasm, Ronja meets Birk, the son of Borka, Mattis's arch-enemy and leader of another robber gang. At first, the children are as hostile as their parents, but they save each other's lives and eventually become friends. Mattis and Borka are not pleased about this – Ronja and Birk flee the castle and spend a summer in the forest. Astrid Lindgren's last major novel is the wonderful story of how the friendship of two children overcomes divisions and enmities – even the hellish chasm. A story that is more valuable today than ever. Directed by the Capitol Children's Theater team, who also brought “The Mannheimer Jungle Book” to the stage.
