One evening, as photographers Gereon Römer and Martin Buschmann sit together, Martin shares stories about Sicily. He was born on the island and fondly remembers family car trips. Since moving to Germany, it has been parked in his garage. Its name is Luigi – a 1967 Fiat 500, an Italian legend. Suddenly, they have an idea: «Let’s drive Luigi over the Alps to Sicily! Luigi must go home!» It quickly becomes clear that this journey won’t be easy: Can a 1.88-meter tall and 100 kg heavy man fit into an old Fiat Cinquecento? Will Luigi make it up the steep roads over the Alps? Is there enough space in the car for all the luggage? And where are those strange engine noises coming from? When they finally set off, they have no idea how long the journey will take. Several attempts are needed to reach Sicily, as Luigi is a classic car and technical breakdowns are common. But Luigi is also a heartthrob; people on the street wave at him, and he repeatedly facilitates personal connections with the people in Italy. An adventurous road trip with a touch of Dolce Vita and Bella Figura. The live show presents the culinary, historical, and scenic highlights of Italy, as well as stories about the challenges and joyful moments of such a journey. Giving up is not an option, as everyone shares a common goal: Luigi must go home.
