Description

In a distant future, our civilization has disappeared and is now just a mysterious past. A group of amateur experts, passionate about the so-called "spectacular" period, attempts to reconstruct their ways of life from fragmented traces. Their obsession: music and, more specifically, the great mystery of the "concert," this event – now completely vanished – where people gathered to listen to music together. Between scholarly hypotheses, biased interpretations, and absurd extrapolations, Retrospectacular takes the form of a science fiction conference-show blending theater and music. A joyfully offbeat reinterpretation of our present, questioning how a civilization transmits – or loses – its artistic practices. The collaboration between Comiqu’opéra (Davide Autieri and Leana Durney) and Das Playground (Bastien Bron and Laetitia Gauchat) brings together two complementary and daring artistic worlds. Comiqu’opéra revisits lyrical art with humor and inventiveness since 2011 through its eight previous productions, while Das Playground explores the friction between pop culture and the museum world through interactive devices. Retrospectacular is their first joint creation, bringing together two seemingly opposing musical approaches around the same question.

General Information

Retrospectacular takes place at the Théâtre du Pommier in Neuchâtel. This unique event questions how a civilization loses or transmits its artistic practices through an imaginative reconstruction of vanished concerts.
