Description

Thomas Stoltzer (ca. 1480-1526) was a celebrated composer in his time, featured in 30 printed publications. His Latin and German psalm settings were his most renowned works. With themes of 'Longing' and 'Hope', these Old Testament texts have become an important part of Advent liturgy. They are presented alongside Advent carols like 'Conditor Alme Siderum' and the 'Advent Introit Rorate coeli', as well as Stoltzers' textless 'Fantasies'. These 'Fantasies' were unusual for their time, as they were organized by modes - each one masterfully representing its modal character. Conducted by Catherine Motuz.
