Description

Following an artistic residency focused on exchange and collective creation, five musicians from different cultural and geographical backgrounds come together on stage for an exceptional concert as part of the RENCONTRES ORIENT-OCCIDENT. Over several days, under the direction of MAHMOUD CHOUKI, these artists will share their musical traditions, sensitivities, and sound universes, creating a dialogue between instruments, rhythms, and languages from diverse cultures. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 at 8:30 PM SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11 at 5:30 PM L’Hacienda, Rte de la Mondereche 7, Sierre Reservation required, non-reserved seats 60 seated places: CHF 30.- 40 standing places: CHF 20.- Sunday: complimentary drink offered by Jazz Station MAHMOUD “MOOD” CHOUKI is a master Moroccan guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator currently living and working in New Orleans. He is the musical curator at the Museum of Art in this city. In 2024, Chouki released his album Caravan from Marrakech to New Orleans. LADA OBRADOVIC is a Croatian jazz drummer and composer. After completing her Bachelor's in drum performance at the University of Graz, Austria, she obtained a Master's in Jazz performance at the University of Bern. ZIED ZOUARI, violinist and composer, is a key figure in Arab-Oriental music. Born in Tunisia into a family of musicians, he also holds a PhD in music (Sorbonne, 2014). Iconic stages in Carthage, Paris, Athens, and London have resonated with his bow. PAYAM GHASEMI is a talented bassist, composer, and session musician. Originally from Iran, he grew up and developed much of his career in Istanbul, Turkey. He now leads his own group, the Payam Ghasemi Quintet. YVES MOULIN is a Swiss concert accordionist. A virtuoso of his instrument since the age of eight, he trained in France at the National and International Center for Accordion Musicians. Throughout his career, he has received several major awards.

General Information

Les Rencontres Orient Occident present a unique concert titled « Mood & Friends » on October 10 and 11 at L'Hacienda in Sierre. Under the direction of Mahmoud Chouki, artists will share their musical traditions and sound universes, offering a rich experience of cultural exchange.
