Description

When the English avant-garde theater group Imitating the Dog takes on Shakespeare's most famous tragedy, a completely new perspective on the story of 'Romeo and Juliet' emerges. The ensemble tells the story from the viewpoint of an aging actor couple who remember how they once portrayed 'Romeo and Juliet' on camera. The two older performers, who were once a couple, reunite after fifty years. She lives with memory loss, and he clings to memories that she can only barely grasp. As old wounds resurface and missed decisions echo once more, the long-forgotten television version of 'Romeo and Juliet' from 1965, in which they played the lead roles, comes to life around them. Film and live performance merge into a moving exploration of love, memory, and the stories we hold onto while everything else fades. 'Remember Romeo' is an ode to the profound experience of first and last love – a story we all carry in our hearts. IMITATING THE DOG is an English theater group known for its experimental productions and the close connection between film, performance, and set design. Since its founding, the company has realized numerous international productions and is considered one of the most innovative ensembles of the British avant-garde.
