The year 975 marks the birth of the Regensburger Domspatzen. With their 1050-year tradition, they are probably the oldest and one of the most renowned boys' choirs worldwide. The students were already entrusted with liturgical singing in the bishop's church back then. A world-class choir reinvents itself: The Regensburger Domspatzen are at a decisive point in their 1050-year history. From a traditional boys' choir of world renown, they have long since become a modern music and educational institution actively shaping their future. A visible sign of this change is the founding of their own girls' choir for girls in 2022.
Since September 2019, Christian Heiß (*1967) has been the cathedral music director in Regensburg and thus the head of the Regensburger Domspatzen. Since 2024, the Regensburger Domspatzen have been part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as one of the "Four Boys' Choirs of Bavaria."
