Description
The legendary violinist Midori returns to the Festival Strings Lucerne. At the center of the evening is Tchaikovsky's passionate violin concerto – the work with which Midori, already at the age of 14, attracted international attention and laid the foundation for her world career. Under the title «Reflections», a program of musical reflections and changes of perspective unfolds. Ravel's subtle homage to Haydn meets Helena Winkelman's Haydn homage, her Papa Haydn’s Parrot Suite, which combines colorful tonal language with surprising jazz and pop references. The evening concludes with Beethoven's Second Symphony, which looks back to Haydn and Mozart and yet points the way to the future with typically Beethovenian energy.
