Singer and pianist Raphael Jost sees himself as a modern crooner. He surprises with his powerful, warm voice and moves easily between jazz and pop. His songs are snapshots from his life – catchy and always cleverly packaged. At the same time, Jost loves singing swinging standards, having already been awarded the Swiss Jazz Award for his debut album, and brings to life swing tradition idols like Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander, or Ahmad Jamal at the piano. Writing for a string orchestra has been a long-held dream of Raphael Jost. For his latest album "Over The Moon," set to be released in fall 2026, he has fulfilled this very dream. Around the core – consisting of outstanding soloists Bastien Rieser on trumpet and Alex Hendriksen on saxophone, Jost's longtime companion Raphael Walser on double bass, and London drummer Luke Tomlinson – ten string players join, adding both sonic richness and intimacy to the music. In collaboration with British arranger Callum Au, who has worked with Jamie Cullum and Michael Bublé, a program has been created that captivates the audience. The full sound and multifaceted tone of the strings add a new dimension to Jost's music, reaching to the moon and back.
