Description

This concert presents a dialogue between two poles of French music of the 20th century: Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen. The first half highlights Ravel's exotic melodies, including Shéhérazade and arrangements of Greek and Jewish folk songs, creating a vibrant palette of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern motifs. The second half features Messiaen's monumental cycle Harawi, a chant of love and death inspired by Andean folklore and Peruvian myths, reinterpreting the Tristan and Isolde theme. Performers include pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi and mezzo-soprano and harpist Ekaterina Levental.

Highlights

Performance of Ravel and Messiaen; works include Shéhérazade, Greek and Jewish folk arrangements, Harawi cycle; performed by acclaimed artists Antonii Baryshevskyi and Ekaterina Levental.
