Description

The Gravel Yard is much more than a model railway layout in gauge "G". There is much to discover on the over 800 m² large area!

The Gravel Yard reflects typical landscapes of Switzerland. The prominent mountain in the middle of the layout, with the cog railway and the reversing tunnels, is a special eye-catcher. By the way, on the subject of cog railways: there are also two exhibits of the prototypes at the Gravel Yard: the cog railcar with the operating number 123 of the Wengernalp Railway and the venerable passenger car No. 17 of the Jungfrau Railways, also known as the Eiger-Ambassador-Express, built in 1912.

Of course, the French-speaking part of Switzerland is also represented on the model layout with four vineyards, twice red wine and twice white wine, in autumnal attire with ripe grapes just waiting to be harvested. Transport is of course rail-bound.

But there is also much to discover next to the layout. The Gravel Yard combines the model railway world with components of the large prototypes. For example, a real mechanical master clock operates all the subsidiary clocks on the Gravel Yard.
