Description
The Academies of Sciences Switzerland award the Prix Média for outstanding journalistic work that conveys scientific topics in an exciting and well-founded manner. The Prix MultiMédia recognizes innovative forms of storytelling. Young journalists are supported with project contributions. This year's winners demonstrate how quickly we can stumble: Stephanie Schnydrig receives the Prix Média for her research on the disturbed balance sense of high-wire artist Freddy Nock, while Julian Schmidli, Pascal Albisser, and Keto Schumacher are awarded the Prix MultiMédia for their scrollytelling piece on the radicalization of young men on TikTok. The prizes are each endowed with 10,000 Swiss francs. A special highlight of the evening is the panel discussion on "How will knowledge be conveyed in the future?" Helga Rietz, President of the Prix Média jury and communications officer at ETH AI Center, speaks with Alexandra Stark and Hannes Grassegger. Alexandra Stark, an expert in artificial intelligence at CH Media, deals daily with the question of how AI is changing journalistic work and what this means for conveying knowledge to a broad audience. Hannes Grassegger is a journalist and founder of "Spatz," a platform that uses crowdsourcing and artificial intelligence to operate digital village newspapers for over 150 Swiss communities. He brings a critical journalistic perspective to the discussion on how technology is changing the production, dissemination, and conveyance of knowledge. We look forward to an exciting exchange.
