Description

Elegant doctor Ingrid (Aňa Geislerová) works in a remote district hospital in the mid-1980s. Strained by a weary marriage and a stagnant career, she dedicates most of her time to her female patients. She brings children into the world and terminates unwanted pregnancies. She also performs sterilizations on Romani women without them fully understanding the consequences. A new friendship with a young and spontaneous nurse, Agáta, prompts Ingrid to see things in a different light. Will she begin to question the rules she has passively followed until now? This impressive drama by Ivan Ostrochovský opens an unresolved chapter of Czechoslovak history, when the state decided on the possibility of having children.
