Description

Plants are all around us. They are indispensable for our lives. They provide us with grains, fruits, and vegetables. They supply cotton and linen for our clothes. They offer us shelter and provide the wood from which we build our houses. They also protect our health, as many medicines are derived from plants. It is therefore no wonder that plants have also found a place in our imagination, in fairy tales, legends, and fantastic epics. In this exhibition, JURASSICA invites you to discover famous fictional plants and their real counterparts. From the magical world of Harry Potter to Middle-earth and the Smurfs to Mario Bros. – you will see that plants often play an important role in fantasy worlds … just like in reality. The special exhibition is divided into small garden houses and extends over various areas of the botanical garden. It takes you from the park through the greenhouses to the research and collection center and reveals plants from our collections that are associated with their fictional counterparts. We wish you a magical journey of discovery at the intersection of science and fiction.

General Information

The "Plant Fiction" exhibition at the JURASSICA MUSEUM and Jardin Botanique in Porrentruy invites visitors to explore the role of plants in fairy tales and fantasy worlds. It spans various areas of the botanical garden and showcases both real and fictional plants.
