Písně severu is a travel and music narrative about the indigenous peoples of Siberia and the North. Ethnologist Tomáš Boukal will share stories from his journeys among the indigenous inhabitants of Siberia and other northern regions. He spent several years in Siberia, visiting remote and hard-to-reach groups of hunters, fishermen, and reindeer herders. He studied their way of life, mythology, religion, and also music. During the discussion, there will be performances of songs and musical instruments from these nations. Tomáš Boukal works at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Pardubice. He is the author of several books (e.g., Cesta mrtvých, Hřbitov nevěst, Po stopách lidojeda), as well as the ethnographic film Cesta mrtvých.
