Description

Christina Harnisch studied in Bern (Conservatory and University) where she obtained the soloist diploma under Franz Joseph Hirt, followed by the virtuosity diploma under Eduardo Vercelli in Neuchâtel. She has won various national and international awards, including the Neuchâtel Virtuosity Prize and several scholarships, and continued her training with Yvonne Lefébure in Paris, Louis Kentner in London, Vitalij Margulis in Freiburg im Breisgau, and Bruno Mezzena in Italy. Since then, she has given recitals, chamber music evenings, and concerts with orchestras (Philharmonie des Südwestens, Schaffhausen Chamber Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Sinfonietta, Orquesta Nacional del Perú, Danube Symphony Orchestra of Budapest, among others), which have received excellent acclaim from both the public and the press. Her repertoire ranges from Bach to modern music.
She is particularly interested in the music of female composers from the 19th and 20th centuries (Cécile Chaminade, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Grazyna Bacewicz, among others). She regularly performs in many countries, including at the Purcell Room in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Tonhalle in Zurich. She also conducts workshops and master classes at universities and conservatories. She has undertaken extensive tours in Europe, Latin America, the United States (San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, Miami), Asia, China, and Thailand. She completed a long tour in China with concerts at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, the Grand Theatre in Hangzhou, and others.
She then undertook a major tour in Latin America with concerts in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, where she notably performed with the Orquesta Nacional del Perú and appeared at the 'Festival Internacional de Música Clásica Contemporánea'.
Following this, she had a significant tour in China with Romano Pucci, principal flutist of the La Scala Orchestra in Milan, which notably achieved immense success at the 'Oriental Art Center' in Shanghai, where the organizers named the Pucci-Harnisch duo the best ensemble of the year, before participating in the 'Festival della Lingua Italiana' in Bangkok.
In recent years, she has undertaken a major solo tour in India with concerts in Bangalore, Goa, Kolkata, and Pune, as well as a tour in Thailand; she has also performed at the Tonhalle in Zurich and given concerts as a soloist with the Danube Symphony Orchestra of Budapest, interpreting Cécile Chaminade's piano concerto in Zurich (Jakobskirche), Locarno (Palazzetto Fevi), and Lugano (Palazzo dei Congressi).
Recently, she performed Mendelssohn's Concerto No. 1 in G minor in Budapest with the Danube Symphony Orchestra, gave recitals as part of the Francophonie Festival in Poland, with concerts in Warsaw and Toruń, and undertook a long tour in Chile including six solo recitals in Santiago and Viña del Mar (Fundación de Providencia, Centro Cultural de los Carabineros, Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar).
For several years, she has been represented by an American agent, Jack Price, with whom she has been able to give two solo recitals titled 'Great Pianists of the World' in Belleville (Illinois) and St. Louis (Missouri), USA. The program includes composers and composers (Chopin, Maria Szymanowska, Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn, Grazyna Bacewicz, Cécile Chaminade, and Debussy). She has also performed Clara Schumann's Concerto and Cécile Chaminade's Concerto in Poland with the H. Wieniawski Orchestra in Lublin, as well as, in November 2023, Clara Schumann's Concerto in St. Louis, Missouri, with the University City Symphony Orchestra; in June 2025, she will perform as a soloist at a gala concert at Carnegie Hall in New York and will also perform Clara Schumann's Concerto at Carnegie Hall in April 2026.
She has also participated in various festivals such as the Freiburg im Breisgau Piano Festival, the Orbetello Piano Festival in Italy, the International Contemporary Classical Music Festival in Lima, among others, and, in duo with Romano Pucci (Duo Pucci Harnisch), at the concerts of Spiez Castle, the Ruggero Leoncavallo International Festival in Brissago, the Chamber Music Festival at the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai, the Festival della Lingua Italiana in Bangkok, among others.
