The Swiss-based quartet was founded in 2016 by Nina Reiter, Marc Mezgolits, and Peter Primus Frosch out of a desire to explore new musical paths. After three albums highly praised by the international press – 2018 "/fɹeɪm/", 2020 "Tides", and 2022 "Hysteria" – and several lineup changes, the core trio is now expanded with guitarist Mareille Merck. The four musicians see themselves as a true collective: each contributes their own compositions, which are developed further together. This results in music that defies categorization – contrasting, versatile, yet unmistakably rooted in the band sound. With their new album "Sirens," the band opens another exciting chapter. The title references the mythological sirens from ancient Greece – powerful, fascinating beings whose voices irresistibly captivated listeners. In the compositions, this metaphor is reinterpreted: it alludes to feminist themes, raises questions about female self-determination, and uses the power of music to seduce, disturb, and awaken. The sound of Sirens is multi-layered: atmospheric improvisations, powerful interplay, and delicate interludes weave into an expressive overall picture. Like the mythological sirens, embodying both danger and beauty, the pieces explore ambivalent emotional worlds – sometimes threatening, sometimes comforting, always intense. This results in a sophisticated sound spectrum that convinces not only through virtuosity but also through its thematic relevance: contemporary jazz that captivates, inspires, and raises a clear voice in the present. With Sirens, the quartet continues its journey consistently – inviting the audience to immerse themselves in this music.
